Presenters: 

Sarah Ahrens began her career as a professional educator in 1996 and has since held a variety of instructional and managerial roles in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. In 2003, she joined the Huntington Learning Center, where she has served as a Center Director, Exam Prep Director, and Corporate Trainer. Currently, she is a Partnership Specialist with the Public Private Partnerships department. In this newest role, Sarah brings the Huntington mission of giving every student the best education possible to youth impacted by juvenile justice, foster care, homelessness and migration. To this position, she brings her experience as a certified diversity, equity, and inclusion trainer, and as a HeartMath Institute certified trauma and stress management educator. In addition to her work with Huntington, Sarah teaches voice and theater classes locally.  She holds Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University in Writing, Philosophy, and Psychology. She received her New Jersey teaching certificate and Masters of Arts in Education, with a concentration in Social Emotional Learning, from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Sarah resides in Frenchtown, New Jersey, and actively volunteers for a variety of social justice causes through her church community.

Kristen Dench is the Director of Public Private Partnerships at Huntington Learning Center, where she has been an integral part of the team since 2004. With a commitment to Huntington's nearly 50-year mission of giving every student the best education possible, Kristen endeavors to provide every student with the highest quality education possible. In her role, Kristen focuses on expanding Huntington's reach through publicly funded programs, aiming to bring educational opportunities to more schools, districts, organizations, and agencies across the United States. Her passion lies in ensuring that students from all backgrounds have access to tutoring services that help them develop stronger academic skills, while also fostering confidence and motivation in their learning journey. Residing in Deer Park, New York, Kristen is deeply rooted in her community. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Dowling College and is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts USA. Committed to youth development, Kristen coached her daughter's soccer team for five years, exemplifying her dedication to both education and community engagement.
