Child and Youth Care Practitioners (CYCPs) work in a number of settings including schools, hospitals, group homes, mental health organizations, among many other spaces. In all of these settings,  CYCPs support autistic* and neuro-divergent young people of all ages, yet we rarely receive adequate training on the kinds of support this population requires. In this webinar, CYCPs will learn some practical tools and information about how to become a neurodiversity-affirming CYC practitioner. I will present this information using the principles of disability rights and justice that I have acquired over many years of listening and learning from the lived experiences of autistic young people.

* Identity-first language (i.e., autistic) is used intentionally to reflect the preference of many autistic people. See: https://autisticadvocacy.org/about-asan/identity-first-language/ and https://www.apa.org/pi/disability/resources/choosing-words
