Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Internal and External Communication When Serving Unaccompanied Children

Thursday, June 17th - 2:00-3:30pm CST

There are multiple current opportunities for providers to partner with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) to serve unaccompanied children (UC), including as contractors or grantees providing foster care or residential shelter services, but one only needs to watch the news to understand that the issue has significant political implications. Licensed providers in the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) network have certain obligations and limitations regarding public communication. Stakeholder engagement and community partners are a critical part of any program’s success. How can you proactively communicate internally and externally to ensure your staff and partners have accurate information? What are key myths to bust to help build understanding of and support for your work?

If you are a provider who would like to join in this work as aligned with your capacity and expertise, but you have questions and need to learn more about what it means to contract directly with ORR and serve unaccompanied children, this webinar is for you. Participants considering providing UC care through ORR will learn general information about key elements of internal and external communication and have an opportunity to ask clarifying questions of current ORR-contracted UC providers. There will be ongoing opportunities to access technical assistance after this webinar.
