Meeting the Medical Needs of Unaccompanied Children

Friday, June 11th - 2-3:30pm CST/noon-1:30pm PT

Providers across the country have expressed interest in serving unaccompanied children, but it’s important to understand the ways in which service delivery differs from domestic foster and shelter care. Medical services are one of these key differences. Unaccompanied children in short-term shelter care or transitional foster care have particular health care needs, but how are these services funded and what role does the Medical Coordinator play? What health and medical services do licensed providers in the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) network need to be prepared to provide to unaccompanied children?

If you are a provider who would like to join in this work as aligned with your capacity and expertise, but you have questions and need to learn more about what it means to contract directly with ORR and serve unaccompanied children, this webinar is for you. Participants considering providing UC care through ORR will learn general information about medical services requirements and have an opportunity to ask clarifying questions of current ORR-contracted UC providers. There will be ongoing opportunities to access technical assistance after this webinar.
