A New National Campaign: Engaging Congress to Prevent and Address Trauma and Build Resilience

The National Trauma Campaign (Campaign), an initiative of the Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice (CTIPP), was launched in February 2020. Its main focus is organizing constituents, like ACRC leaders, to educate and engage congressional offices and other federal leaders in supporting policies, programs, legislation, and appropriations that prevent and address childhood trauma and build resilience. During this webinar, ACRC members will learn about the Campaign, how to become involved, and current Campaign efforts to support leaders in influencing the flexible federal funds flowing to states from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Stimulus Act (CARES) toward trauma-informed approaches. Ultimately, the Campaign has a vision of the United States as a fully trauma-informed society, and there is a need and opening in our country’s response to the pandemic to take action toward that vision today. Marlo Nash, Dan Press and Jesse Kohler, all members of the National Trauma Campaign Core Team will be presenting.

Presenters:

Marlo Nash, National Director of Partnerships and Policy, Saint Francis Ministries

Dan Press, Partner at Van Ness Feldman

Jesse Kohler, Director of Development at North Light Community Center
